Brett King, MD, PHD

Dr. King has joined our practice under a “direct care” model, allowing him to dedicate more time and personalized attention to complex cases.

Patients who choose to see Dr. King may submit claims to their insurance for potential reimbursement. Alternatively, other experienced providers at our practice are available for those who prefer not to see Dr. King.

For patients with more routine dermatological concerns, our team of providers are happy to assist.

Dr. King was the first dermatologist to show that a class of medicines called Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors were effective for treatment of alopecia areata, vitiligo, atopic dermatitis (eczema), granuloma annulare, sarcoidosis, lichen planus, and other disorders. He has advanced the use of oral minoxidil for treatment of male and female pattern hair loss (also called androgenetic alopecia).

After completing his medical training, Dr. King spent 14 years on the full-time faculty at the Yale School of Medicine before recently transitioning to private practice in order to focus on patient care. He has been an investigator in numerous clinical trials, including those leading to approval of Olumiant, Litfulo and Leqselvi for treatment of alopecia areata. He lectures nationally and internationally and publishes extensively.

Dr. King was named an American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) “Patient Care Hero” for his work treating patients with severe alopecia areata. He is married to Britt Craiglow, MD, an extraordinary pediatric dermatologist who specializes in the care of children and adolescents with severe skin diseases.
