Treatment for Tinea
Also known as ringworm, this fungal infection is among the most prevalent of childhood skin ailments. Its characteristic red, oval-shaped, possibly itchy rash may show up on the feet, scalp, nails—or pretty much anywhere else on the body not covered by mucus membranes. Unless a bacterial infection sets in, tinea isn’t dangerous. But it is very contagious, making treatment critical. If you suspect your child has ringworm, our pediatric team can prescribe a round of topical anti-fungal medications that will knock out the infection quickly and painlessly.
